Three Custom-Published Books for General Education Courses Completed So Far
Tucson, Ariz. (March 1, 2023) – Pima Medical Institute is excited to announce its partnership with FlatWorld, a well-respected textbook publisher with expertise in custom-published books. FlatWorld works with educators to not only develop written content, but also course content surrounding their areas of expertise. This publisher works on a digital platform, providing an added layer of flexibility not available with traditional publishers. This forward-thinking approach to textbook publishing was an important factor in bringing this partnership together.
Because FlatWorld works digitally, Pima Medical was able to customize the content of its new textbooks, including the addition of case studies written by Pima Medical faculty members, student success stories and unique, co-branded book covers developed by Pima Medical’s marketing team.
“Being able to feature case studies from our faculty members further demonstrates the quality of our educators and their level of experience,” said Jordan Utley, PhD, LAT, ATC, FNAP, corporate education director, Pima Medical Institute. “Our faculty are experts in their respective fields and are an integral part of the quality education being provided to each of our students. The addition of our student success stories helps to show current students what is possible.”
All students using these books will have a print and electronic copy of the textbook. Textbook resources include power points, test banks and more, fully integrated with the Blackboard operating system students use on a daily basis.
FlatWorld believes in empowering educators by providing affordable, high-quality learning materials. The company’s mission was in perfect alignment with the goals of Pima Medical.
“We are proud to partner with Pima Medical Institute. FlatWorld shares a deep commitment to quality education and we will deliver Pima Medical’s expertise through our streamlined, intuitive platform,” said Alicia Kirk, Institutional Partnerships, FlatWorld. “We are delighted to provide accessible, engaging content that deep links within Pima Medical’s Blackboard instance alongside embedded videos and study tools to enhance the student learning experience.”
So far, three books have been published through this collaboration: Algebra Applications, Basic Chemistry for Healthcare Professionals and Applied Communications for Healthcare. Two to three more books are expected to publish later in 2023.
